A hard, bony plate covers the face of this feathery juvenile. It dislikes having the bone touched, likely due to it being sensitive as the juvenile grows. However, it loves grooming and will spend hours smoothing its soft feathers. If other Strigostos are around, it will snuggle up to them in hopes of being preened. Although generally quiet, it makes small squeaking sounds when hungry.
