Though this bright-eyed juvenile has been quite mobile since the moment it hatched, it spends much of its active time near its mother, whom it calls with a unique chirping noise. When not actively riding on its mother’s back or in her mouth, it can be found basking in the sun, swimming, or playing with nestmates. In a lab setting, it is crucial to make sure this small creature has plenty of access to water, places to hide, and a heat lamp.
