Although quite burly for its size, this juvenile is surprisingly quick and steady on its feet. It is prone to biting, and caution is necessary in a laboratory environment to avoid painful injuries from its sharp teeth. Among its peers, it makes constant bids for dominance, trading kicks, bites, and headbutts with savage ferocity.

• The first capsule in my lab. Scientists aren't supposed to be superstitious, but something about this specimen is a little spooky. It doesn't help that it emerged around Halloween.
