Small patches of this juvenile’s rough skin give off a faint luminescence. It attracts larger zooplankton, which make up the bulk of the juvenile’s diet. The juvenile will sometimes approach other juveniles of the same species, drawn by their soft glow, but they are quick to fight over food sources and rarely remain near each other for long.
