Though diminutive in size, Reganta Plumaros possess an aggressive bravery that defies their physical limitations. Living in migratory flocks that may include up to thirty individuals, these spunky birds defend their territory against other groups with vicious flair. They will aim for an opponent’s ears and feathers with their sharp beaks, the former being a common target due to their reliance on echolocation. Their lack of eyesight does not hinder their mobility and allows them to shift their active time according to the season, though they usually sing only in the mornings and evenings regardless. Breeding pairs can often be heard singing in duet. When raising young, Reganta Plumaros will defend their nest even against other birds of their flock. Males and females take turns hunting for food for their young. They will eat whatever insects are available, using their echolocation to easily hone in on their prey.

The creatures that dwell in this rather desolate world still display some diversity in appearance, eating habits, and social behavior. Whether they have fur or feathers, skin or scales, their unique genetic makeup allows for a variety of colors and markings within each species. Despite limitations in food sources, herbivores, omnivores, and carnivores are all present in the food chain, and each species requires specialized care within a laboratory. Although the artificial setting of housing units and breeding pods precludes most opportunities to study true interspecific behavior, the interactions within and between species has been studied extensively in the wilderness by scientists daring enough to venture beyond the outpost’s walls.
